Kelowna is a destination. People from across Canada and the world choose to make Kelowna their home on a regular basis. As one of the most naturally beautiful cities in Canada (and that’s saying something!) and with hot summers and temperate winters, it’s easy for those of us that know the city to understand why so many folks choose to live here. However, if you’re yet to visit Kelowna, and you’re wondering what all the fuss is about, let us explain...

Put simply, Kelowna is a fantastic place to live! With stunning natural beauty, award-winning wineries, awesome golf courses, excellent weather, skiing and snowboarding, hiking trails and so much more! Not to mention our cultural activities (theatre, music etc.), post-secondary educational institutions, restaurants and shops! So with all that in mind, we’ve put our heads together and come up with a list of the top reasons to live in Kelowna, and here they are in no particular order:

    There’s so much to do in and around Kelowna! From golf, skiing, boating, mountain biking, hiking, camping to lazing on the beach in the hot summer sun and more, Kelowna is an attractive year-round destination.

     
  3. The Weather

    his is probably the number one reason most people choose to live in Kelowna! Kelowna has one of the best climates in Canada with hot summers and mild (by Canadian standards!) winters.

     
  4. Culture and Arts
    Kelowna has a vibrant culture and arts scene, and it has gone from strength to strength in recent years. Kelowna boasts theatres, live music venues, dance companies, museums, galleries and more!

     
  5. YLW 
    Kelowna International Airport offers service to cities throughout Canada, the United States, and the Mexico. YLW is the 12th busiest airport in Canada, and offers convenient access to major centres like Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto.

     
  6. Growing Tech Industry 
    In recent years, the tech industry has started to blossom in Kelowna, and it is exciting to see where this will go in the years ahead. It is certainly creating more opportunities for young professionals. Some of you may have heard of Kelowna’s Club Penguin, it was purchased by Disney in August 2007.

     
  7. Post-Secondary Education Facilities 
    The University of British Columbia has a campus in Kelowna, and has grown year on year, since opening in 2005. Okanagan College is another local post-secondary institution that offers excellent courses for just about everything you can think of.

     
  8. Restaurants and Shops 
    There are a number of high-end restaurants in Kelowna. There’s also a strong mixology scene, which has developed over the last few years. Along with independent restaurants, there are a number of large restaurant chains operating Kelowna locations too. The same goes for shops as Kelowna has boutique stores as well as big box retailers.
