Construction is well underway for Phase 1 of the Kelowna Integrated Water Project. Read on to find out more about current and upcoming construction.

Upcoming construction

Frost Road between Steele Road and South Ridge Drive

Starting August 23 and until early September, Frost Road will be closed between Steele Road and Gordon Drive, as well as between South Ridge Drive and Gordon Drive. A detour will be available via Steele Road, Arbour View Drive, and South Ridge Drive.

Wallace Hill Road 

Starting August 22 and until early September, construction will occur on Wallace Hill Road between Saucier Road and Balldock Road. Construction will then start in mid-September on a section of Wallace Hill Road between Balldock Road and Matthews Road. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses located in the work zone, as well as for people walking and on bicycles. A detour for through traffic will be available on Spiers Road and Saucier Road.

Construction is also expected to start in September on Balldock Road, Steele Road, Dehart Road, and Hughes Road. 

Current construction

Chute Lake Road between South Crest Drive and Upper Mission Drive

Chute Lake Road remains accessible to residents and businesses located in the work zone, with a detour for through traffic in place until late August. Drivers are asked to use the designated detour along Okaview Road and Lark Street. 

Gordon Drive between Frost Road and 380m south of Paret Road

Two lanes remain open with possible traffic interruptions until early September.

Crawford Road between Dehart Road and Westridge Drive

Single lane alternating traffic is in place until early September, with delays of up to 15 minutes. A detour is available via Westridge Drive, Missionridge rive, Park Ridge Drive, Stewart Road West, and Dehart Road.

Steele Road between Gordon Drive and Arbor View Drive

Watermain installation on this section of Steele Road started on August 14 and is now complete. Further interruptions for restoration are anticipated until early September.

For the safety of the public and work crews, please follow signs and directions of traffic safety personnel and drive with care when travelling through a residential neighbourhood.

Due to the design-build nature of the project, exact dates and times of future construction will be available closer to the start of construction, and conditions are subject to change. A list of confirmed and anticipated start dates is available online at kelowna.ca/water.

Notice will be provided to directly impacted businesses and residents prior to construction starting in their area.
