City of Kelowna | July 18, 2018

Construction for Phase 1 of the Kelowna Integrated Water Project starts this week, including pre-construction activity on Gordon Drive starting on July 19.

Construction work for installation of a water main starts on Gordon Drive between Frost Road and Steele Road on Monday, July 23. Work on Chute Lake Road between Upper Mission Drive and South Crest Drive starts Thursday, July 26. Construction will then start in late August on Frost Road and Gordon Drive between Steele Road and Paret Road.

On Gordon Drive between Frost Road and Steele Road, two lanes of traffic will be maintained with northbound traffic shifted to the median. Travelers can expect delays of no more than 15 minutes, and work is expected to be complete in September.

Chute Lake Road will be closed between Upper Mission Drive and South Crest Drive. A vehicle detour will be in place via Lark Street to Okaview Road. People walking and biking will be detoured through Chute Lake Crescent. Work on Chute Lake Road is also expected to be complete in September.

Construction hours are Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and work may occur outside of regular construction hours (evenings and weekends) to minimize impacts on residents and limit the time of active construction in the area.

For the safety of the public and work crews, please follow signage and directions of traffic safety personnel, as every effort will be made to minimize disruptions. Residents, businesses and motorists are thanked for their patience while work is underway.

Due to the nature of the project, exact dates and times of future construction for this project will be available closer to the start of each stage of construction. Notice will be provided to directly impacted businesses and residents prior to construction starting in their area.
